NEET PG 2023 Counselling: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducts NEET PG 2023 counselling for admission to MD/MS/PG courses under 50% All India Quota seats. Remaining 50% seats will be filled by the respective state government appointed admission Committee. Candidates who will secure minimum cutoff scores required for All India Quota seats must register for the counselling procedure. - The counselling of NEET PG 2023 will be conducted by MCC for admission to 35000 MD/MS seats under All India Quota seats, state quota seats, Deemed universities, AFMS institutes.
- Qualified candidates in NEET PG 2023 exam are eligible to attend counselling for admissions to NEET PG Medical Courses.
- NEET PG was held online in a single session on April 18, 2023 and the result was released on May 5, 2023.
- 9953 MD, 10821 MS, 1979 PG Diploma and 1338 DNB CET seats will be filled through NEET PG 2023 Counselling.
- Over 6000 colleges and 650 hospitals will participate in admission process.
NEET PG counselling 2023
NEET PG counselling 2023 will be held in two rounds. After NEET PG result is announced, candidates are shortlisted for 50% All India Quota seats. Before NEET PG seat allotment, aspirants have to register and select their preferred colleges and courses. Check the step-wise process of NEET PG counselling round 1 and 2 are given below.
NEET PG Counselling 2023 – Round 1 Process
Step 1 – Registration for NEET PG counselling
- Go to mcc.nic.in, register by clicking on “New Registration” link.
- Enter stream, roll number, testing ID, name of candidate, date of birth, security pin.
- In the next window submit parent’s name, address, pin code, email ID, mobile number, security question/answer and create a password.
- Verify the same and click on ‘submit’ button.
- A registration slip will be generated that contains login and registration details.
Step 2 – Login for NEET PG 2023 counselling
After registration, candidates can login by entering their testing ID/confirmation number as login ID and the chosen password.
Here candidates must pay NEET PG counselling registration fee based on their category that mentioned in below table

Once registration fee paid, candidates have to pay security deposit fee, which is completely refunded back to students, if admission/seat not given.

Step 3 – NEET PG counselling 2023 filling and submission of choices
Once the candidates are logged in, they must click on the ‘available choices’ link. Here, depending on their credentials (gender, category etc) the available choices are displayed for them.
Here are the steps for choice filling and submission:
- Click on ‘choice filling’ icon displayed on the left side of the screen.
- Click on ‘adding’ icon. The available choices will get added to right side of the screen.
- Click on ‘save and continue’ button to save the exercised choices.
- Use upper and lower arrows to move the selected choices and delete button to remove the option. You can also swap preferences.
- If an aspirant want to delete multiple choices, he/she can select the number of choices and confirm to delete by clicking on uncheck all option.
- Click on ‘save an go to home’ option.
Step 4 – NEET PG 2023 mock counselling
Online NEET PG mock counselling is conducted by MCC to give students an idea of how the counselling process works. Seats will be allotted as per applicant’s choices and All India Rank. Aspirants can even modify their choices after mock counselling.
Step 5 – Choice locking of NEET PG 2023 counselling
After choice filling, aspirants can lock their choices by clicking on ‘Choice lock’. It’s not possible, once choices are locked in NEET PG counselling. Check the detailed procedure of choice locking for NEET PG counselling here.
- Click on choice lock to confirm selected options like seat preferences.
- Next click on lock counselling by entering password.
- Once all done, take a print out of filled choices for future use.
Step 6 – NEET PG counselling 2023 seat allotment
MCC will publish the counselling result for each registered candidate with admission status and seat allotment. Candidates can check their seat allotment status by login.
Step 7 – Reporting at allotted colleges
After seat allotment, aspirants must download the allotment letter which will be provided on this page. Candidates must report at the allotted institutes along with the relevant documents and fees as mentioned in the allotment letter. Aspirants who will not be present on the specified date as written on allotment letter will be disqualified.

Documents to be carried at the time of reporting to the allotted colleges:
- NEET PG 2023 admit card
- NEET PG result Score card
- Mark sheet of MBBS/BDS 1, 2 and 3 professional examinations
- MBBS/BDS degree certificate/provisional certificate
- Institute completion certificate or the certificate from the head of the institution stating that candidate has completed the internship by June 30, 2023.
- MCI or SMC issued permanent/provisional registration certificate and it is applicable only for the candidates who are likely to complete the internship on or before June 30, 2023.
- High school/higher secondary certificate/birth certificate as proof of birth date
- Candidates must also carry on the identification proofs to the allotted colleges – PAN card, driving license, voter ID, Passport or Aadhaar card
Candidates belonging to respective categories must also carry the following certificates:
- SC/ST certificate by mentioning sub caste in English or Hindi language issued by the competent authority.
- OBC certificate issued by the competent authority and the sub-caste must be related to the central list of OBC.
- Orthopedic Physically Handicapped (OPH) certificate issued from a constitutes or authorized medical boards. No other OPH certificate issued by any other authority will be entertained.
NEET PG 2023 Counselling for round 2
Candidates not allotted seats in round 1 can fill their fresh seat preferences in NEET PG counselling round 2. Candidates do not have to register again to participate in NEET PG round 2 counselling. Aspirant choice and merit will play vital role in seat allotment process. In case, aspirants do not select their college preferences and courses, they will not be eligible for second round.
Who are eligible for NEET PG counselling round 2?
Following are various scenarios, where a candidate will get eligible for round 2 of NEET PG 2023 counselling:
- Group I – Registered candidates not allotted any seat in round 1
- Group II – If Seat cancelled during document verification or change in category.
- Group III – Aspirants who have joined the college in round 1 but want to up-grade their seats in round 2.
Who are not eligible for NEET PG counselling round 2?
- Aspirants not reporting at the allotted institute after seat allotment in round 1.
- Candidates who reported but withdrew their allotted seats during round 1 counselling.
- Applicants who became ineligible due to change in category
- Students who did not opt for up-gradation of seats.
NEET PG Counselling for State Quota seats
NEET PG 2023 counselling for 50% state quota seats will be done by the respective state Admission Committee. Each state will publish separate counselling schedule for admissions to NEET PG Medical Courses.
The state admission committees will consider NEET PG result for preparing state merit ranks for admission to all medical institutes established by local bodies and state government.
NEET PG Counselling 2023 for AFMS institutes
The counselling of NEET PG 2023 for AFMS institutes will be conducted by MCC for admission to around 295 PG medical seats in 8 Armed Forces Medical Services institutes.
Aspirants who will be appearing for MD/MS/PG Diploma seats in AFMS institutes must select ‘Yes/No’ option in NEET PG application form. After the result is announced, aspirants whose AFMC application form is accepted will be called for counselling process.
