UPSC CAPF Syllabus 2022

UPSC CAPF Syllabus 2022 for AC Exam: UPSC CAPF Syllabus 2022 for Paper-I has General Ability and Intelligence section with 125 objective type questions for 250 marks. All questions will be set in English and Hindi languages.

CAPF 2022 syllabus for paper II has General Studies, Essay and Comprehension section with 6 descriptive type questions for 200 marks.

The both papers of UPSC CAPF exam are completed on the same day with 2 hours break in between them. Paper 1 will be held from 10 AM to 12 AM while Paper 2 will be conducted from 2 PM to 5 PM on the same day.

UPSC conducts CAPF exam to recruit Assistant Commandants (AC) Officer in BSF, CISF, ITBP, CRPF, SSB, NSG and AR. This exam comprises 2 papers, where candidates are given 2 hours to complete paper 1 objective test and 3 hours for paper 2 descriptive test.

CAPF Syllabus 2022 for Paper II is further divided in two parts:

  • Part‐A: Need to write descriptive essay either in Hindi or English that carries 80 marks. Focus more on issues related to geography, polity, modern Indian history and human rights.
  • Part‐B: It has questions related to comprehension, precis writing and other communication or language skills. This part carries a total of 120 marks.

The candidate will have the option to select the language for writing the essay in Hindi or English but for the remaining part of the paper, the candidate will not have any option and will have to answer in English only.

Highlights in CAPF exam pattern:

  • Every single question equally carries 2 marks in Paper 1.
  • In CAPF Paper 1 exam, a total of 125 questions will be given for 250 marks.
  • All questions in Paper 1 are objective type and given in English/Hindi languages.
  • About one-third marks will be deducted for each wrong answer in CAPF paper 1.
  • No negative marks in Paper 2 exam because it’s a descriptive test.
  • Paper 2 has 6 questions and carries 200 marks.

Physical Efficiency/Medical Test

Physical efficiency test has different events and timings for male and female candidates. A candidate need to perform in racing, long jump and shot put in given time in order to get selected for medical test. This is very toughest task compared to written exam.

The candidates who are qualified in Medical test have to attend for interview that carries 150 marks.

Candidates who clear the written exam will be called for Physical efficiency & Medical Test followed by interview & personality test. The final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained by a candidate in written exam and performance in physical efficiency test and interview.

Is there negative marking in UPSC CAPF exam?

Yes, there is negative marking of one-third marks will be deducted for each wrong answer in the UPSC CAPF paper 1 exam. While paper 2 has no negative marks.

Are CAPF written exam marks consider for the final selection?

Yes, the final selection is done based on the marks in written exam, physical test and interview. A merit list will be prepared and published the same based on the candidates marks and reservations.

What is cut off marks for CAPF exam?

CAPF cut off varies based on category of a candidate. It ranges from 76 to 95 (out of 250 marks) for Paper I and 136 to 166 for Paper I + II (out of 600 marks). The final cut off for CAPF exam are 250 to 280 marks.

How long does it take for CAPF exam?

CAPF exam of paper-I is 2 hours long and it conducts from 10 AM to 12 AM. While Paper-II is 3 hours long and conducts from 2 PM to 5 PM. It should completed on the same day with 2 hours break between paper 1 and paper 2.
